CRD/NCR Grading Options Available for Winter Courses Only
Message from the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic
Dear undergraduate and Chang School students,
Due to the many course and exam adaptations that Ryerson has made this semester in the wake of COVID-19, we announced recently that the university is providing you with the option to maintain your assigned letter grade, to replace your final undergraduate course passing letter grade with a credit (CRD), or to drop your course without academic penalty and replace their letter grade with a no-credit (NCR) grade.
Please note that these new grading options are available for winter courses only; fall 2019 grades cannot be changed retroactively, and spring and summer 2020 courses will be evaluated using letter grades. The CRD and NCR grade replacement options were introduced because of the sudden disruption of the winter 2020 term, which required the university’s rapid transition to alternate learning and evaluation formats.
We understand that the adjustments you have had to make in recent weeks have been challenging and that the uncertainty of this situation continues to prompt a lot of changes. As we plan for the months ahead, please know that the university continues to make decisions that are in the best interest of your safety and academic success, and that we are doing everything possible to support a smooth transition to virtual learning.
