Here we grow again – the Ted Rogers MBA has taken another big step in key global rankings.

The Ted Rogers MBA program has been ranked second in Canada by the Corporate Knights Better World MBA Ranking. The annual ranking reflects the strong demand for sustainability in core courses and faculty research in MBA programs across the world. The program also ranked 8th internationally.

That’s another step up from last year. Ted Rogers MBA’s placement in the 2022 Better World MBA Ranking is an improvement from 2021 when the program placed third in Canada and 11th in the world.

“Our trajectory is wholly positive on all sustainability measures,” said Ted Rogers School Dean Daphne Taras. “To be among the very pinnacle of MBA programs in the world is a major achievement. I am so proud of this recognition of excellence.”

The Better World MBA Ranking (external link, opens in new window) , now in its 20th year, identifies the top full-time MBA programs in the world for instilling a holistic purpose of business in future leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, tools and values to build a more inclusive and prosperous society in sync with our natural world.

To determine this year's ranking, Corporate Knights evaluated 160 MBA’s, including the 2021 Financial Times top 100 Global MBA programs, all programs included in Corporate Knights’ 2021 Better World MBA Ranking and select MBA programs accredited by AMBA, AACSB or EQUIS that opted into the ranking.

Programs were evaluated across seven key performance indicators: core course integration of sustainability (30%), research publications per faculty member on sustainability topics (20%), percent of total faculty publications in 2021 on sustainability topics (20%), number of citations per faculty for those publications (10%), sustainability-focused research institutes and centres (10%), faculty gender diversity (5%) and faculty racial diversity (5%). Additionally, a new indicator measuring alumni sustainability impact (% of recent grads working at impact organizations) was introduced as a bonus (worth up to 5%).

“In the Ted Rogers MBA program, we aim to be a leader in sustainability,” said Dr. Donna Smith, Graduate Program Director, MBA Program. “For our 2022 Convocation ceremony, we even encouraged our graduates to walk across the stage with their children because we care about the world our children will live in in 2030 and beyond.”

“We are disheartened that the pandemic reversed gains made by women in the workplace, from front-line workers to women who aspire to be leaders in their field,” she adds. “Our program will continue to be a changemaker in this and other areas related to sustainability.”

This is not the first time the Ted Rogers MBA program has made prestigious rankings this year. It also ranked third on Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2022-23 survey of MBA programs in Canada.
