New Collective Agreement and Payroll Processing

September 02, 2021

To: RFA Members

In light of the interest arbitration award (external link)  issued by Arbitration Kaplan on June 7, 2021, the renewal Collective Agreement between the University and the Faculty Association will end on June 30, 2023.

Your September 15, 2021 pay cheque will reflect your revised salary as a result of the arbitrated salary increases (both across-the-board and CDI). Following the September 15, 2021 pay, you can request a personalized calculation sheet by emailing the appropriate Client Services Advisor as indicated in the chart below.

Where appropriate, salary adjustments are retroactive to July 1, 2020 to members actively employed as of June 7, 2021.

Across-the-Board Increases and CDIs

Individuals who were members of the Association as of June 30, 2020 and who continue to be members are entitled to receive an across-the-board increase of 1.0% effective July 1, 2020.

Individuals who were members of the Association as of June 30, 2021 and who continue to be members are entitled to receive an across-the-board increase of 1.0% effective July 1, 2021.

CDIs continue to be effective on September 1 of each year. For all Association members the value of the CDI for both September 1, 2020 and September 1, 2021 will be $3,250.00 in accordance with the terms of the collective agreement.

Promotion Increases

Individuals who are entitled to promotion increases that would have taken effect on September 1, 2020 or September 1, 2021 will also receive their increases on September 15, 2021 retroactive to the applicable date.

Under the new collective agreement, for promotion to Associate Professor, increases will be effective September 1 of the end of the probationary period (i.e., a member who applied in 2020 and was successful would receive their promotion increases effective September 1, 2021). For promotion to Professor, increases are retroactive to September 1 of the year of application.
