Awards and scholarships also look great on your resume and can help you build your profile for future employment opportunities.

Guaranteed Renewable Entrance Scholarships

If your final high school average is 80% or higher and you meet the terms and conditions for scholarship, you’re guaranteed a renewable entrance scholarship from Toronto Metropolitan University.

Prestigious Entrance Awards & Scholarships

President's Entrance Scholarships

The President's Entrance Scholarship is awarded to secondary school graduates who demonstrate academic accomplishment, leadership qualities, original thought and creative ability. 

Twelve (12) recipients | $40,000 (total value) | $10,000 (annual amount) (renewable)

Recipients are reserved (costs not included) a bed in residence. This is limited to Pitman Hall single bedroom with shared hallway washroom or the International Living/Learning single bedroom with private washroom. Please visit the Housing and Residence Life website for more information about living on campus.

A minimum 90% final admission average is required for consideration. An applicant's average is calculated with their best six Grade 12 U/M courses, or their home country's equivalent. 

This application will ask that you include the following: 

  1. An essay or project summary: this may be a piece of creative writing, or a summary of any creative project which you may have undertaken. It must reflect your capacity for original thought and creative ability (max 500 words).
  2. Two (2) letters of reference:
    1. academic reference letter that confirms your scholastic abilities. This reference may also speak to your leadership/creative endeavours.
    2. reference letter should address your leadership/creative endeavours. It should not verify academic achievement.
  3. Your leadership activities: you will indicate the leadership activities/positions that you have been involved in during your final two years in secondary school.

 Note: Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, Protected Persons in Canada and International Students are eligible to apply for this award.

Terence Grier Entrance Scholarship

The Terence Grier Entrance Scholarship honours the achievements of the university's President, from 1988-1995, in particular his leadership through a period of profound change at Toronto Metropolitan University, culminating in the acquisition of university status at the institution. 

One (1) recipient | Full tuition for first-year only (not renewable)

A minimum 85% final admission average is required for consideration. An applicant's average is calculated with their best six Grade 12 U/M courses.

This application will ask that you to include the following: 

  1. A Personal Statement
  2. Two (2) Letters of Reference
    1. academic reference that confirms your scholastic abilities and success 
    2. a reference letter that supports your exceptional aptitude in your chosen field of study.

 Note: Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, and Protected Persons in Canada are eligible to apply for this award.

International Secondary School Merit Scholarship

The International Secondary School Merit Scholarship is for international students. The students must be starting their first year of a full-time four-year undergraduate degree at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). It's for students who do well academically, volunteer, join clubs and show leadership qualities.

Please note: For those applying for admission in fall 2024, TMU has increased the scholarship value to $10,000. The recipient number potential has also increased to 40 students. This award is entrance-only and is non-renewable. 

Key points to remember:

  • Must be an international student starting their first year of a full-time four-year undergraduate degree
  • Must have a final admission average of at least 85%, an A, or an equivalent
  • Must write a personal statement for submission
  • If a gap year was taken it must be no longer than one academic year

International Student Winter Merit Scholarship

The International Student Winter Merit Scholarship is for international students. The students must be starting their first year of a full-time four-year undergraduate degree at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in January 2025. It's for students who do well academically, volunteer, join clubs and show leadership qualities.

Please note: For those applying for admission in winter 2025, TMU has increased the scholarship value to $10,000. The recipient number potential has also increased to 20 students. This award is entrance-only and is non-renewable.

Each award and scholarship below has unique application requirements, but they’re well within reach! Many are based on your grade 12 average and some may require a short essay or reflection paper. Apply for multiple awards and scholarships – you never know which scholarships you might receive!

The Jon and Nancy Love Entrance Award

  • One (1) recipient
  • Up to 70% the cost of tuition (renewable for up to three years)
  • Applications close: April 7, 2024

Available to an incoming full-time undergraduate student commencing their first year at Ted Rogers School of Management. 

In addition to demonstrating financial need and good academic standing, applicants will need to submit letters of support, a resume and a personal letter on why they are the ideal candidate as it relates to the values and mission of the Ted Rogers School. Additional criteria can be found on AwardSpring. 

Preference is given to Pathways to Education applicants. The award is renewable on an annual basis for up to three years if the recipient meets the renewal criteria.

Renewable Award Criteria

The award will be renewed for up to three (3) additional years if each year the student:

  • Is enrolled in four (4) or more courses (one course equals one billing unit) in each of the fall and winter terms. 
    *A WKT term in either fall or winter term is considered equivalent to a full-time workload (four (4) or more courses).
  • Has a clear academic standing.
  • Restricted to domestic students that reside in Ontario.

Ted Rogers School of Management Renewable Undergraduate Entrance Awards

  • Multiple recipients
  • Up to $40,000 each (total value)
  • Up to $10,000 each (annual amount) (renewable)
  • Applications close: April 7, 2024

Available to students entering their first year of the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Retail Management, or School of Accounting and Finance programs.

Applicants will need a minimum 85% final average based on their best six Grade 12 U or M courses, demonstrate financial need and submit letters of support outlining their community involvement and/or leadership in extracurricular activities. No time gaps in study and entering post-secondary studies for the first time. Additional criteria can be found on AwardSpring.

The award is renewable on an annual basis for up to three years if the recipient meets the renewal criteria.

Renewable Award Criteria 

The award will be renewed for up to three additional years if the student:

  • Remains in their original program of study.
  • Is enrolled in 4 or more billing units in each of the fall and winter terms.
    *A WKT term in either fall or winter term is considered equivalent to a full-time workload (four (4) or more courses).
  • Has a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or better, no failing grades and clear academic standing.
  • Submits an updated budget each year demonstrating unmet financial need.
  • Restricted to domestic students that reside in Ontario.

If any student fails to meet the requirements for renewal in the upper years of their program, the award will be made available to another student, within the same year of study, who meets the criteria.

Ted Rogers School of Management Undergraduate Entrance Awards

  • Multiple recipients
  • Up to $10,000 each (entrance only, non-renewable)
  • Applications close: April 7, 2024

Available to students entering their first year of the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Information Technology Management, Retail Management, or School of Accounting and Finance programs.

Yardi Scholarship

  • Two annual awards of $10,000 each
  • Applications close: May 31, 2024

Available to students entering their first year of the Business Management or the Information Technology Management programs.

  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the university.
  • Self-identify as a first-generation student.

Applicants must submit a written statement (250-500 words) describing how they demonstrate Yardi’s values. Yardi's values are integrity, trust, communication, respect, innovation, collaboration and community service.

Renewable Award Criteria

The award will be renewed for up to three additional years if the student:

  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the university.
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0.
  • Be in clear academic standing.

I know what you’re thinking – it’s probably not worth applying because there are so many other applicants. I thought the same thing, but was encouraged by TRSM staff to apply for multiple awards.
