Learning Hubs

Ryerson University’s new Centre for Urban Innovation (CUI) is a collaborative space where big thinkers come together to tackle the challenges posed by our ever-growing cities. This 60,000-square-foot building opened in 2019 provides research and innovation space for faculty and students focusing on solutions to critical urban issues. From alternative energy and water management to data analytics and smart urban infrastructure, the work that takes place here will help define the cities of the next century.

Designed by the internationally acclaimed architectural firm Perkins + Will, the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex, which opened in November 2019 at 288 Church Street, brings together four schools within the Faculty of Community Services (FCS) and provides research space, enabling entire research teams to be situated in common workspaces. Its spaces encourage not only cross-disciplinary connections among students, faculty and staff, but also interaction between the activities of the building and its surrounding community. These connections underscore the holistic approach to health and wellness taken at Ryerson and our determination to foster healthy cities and citizens.
