NVivo fundamentals - postponed
- November 03, 2023
- 10:00 AM EDT - 1:00 PM EDT
- In person at CERC Migration office
We regret that we are unable to hold the workshop on November 2nd. We will reschedule the session as soon as possible. Please check back for a new date.
About the workshop:
NVivo is a software for qualitative data analysis (QDA). However, you will maximize the use of it if you think of it as a research project management software. Indeed, you do not need to wait to start using NVivo until you finish your data collection. You can start using it as early as you start thinking about your project, reviewing relevant literature, and preparing your project documentation.
Topics this workshop will cover:
- How to launch NVivo, and create and navigate a project
- Saving and making a project backup
- Importing text data
- Creating new files and organizing data files into folders
- Creating thematic nodes
- Manual coding of data and auto coding of structured content
- How to review the content of, and further refine, nodes
- Moving, sorting, merging and exporting nodes
How this workshop will be delivered:
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to the NVivo for Windows software and provide them with an opportunity to acquire some hands-on experience. Specifically, the participants will learn how to prepare their text data for analyses with NVivo 12, import and organize the data in NVivo, add research notes while analyzing the data, and code qualitative data in a variety of different ways. This workshop is appropriate for beginner researchers with no previous knowledge of NVivo as well as those who would like to expand their knowledge and skills with this software.
